About the lab

We make small apps worth keeping.

Just Apps Lab is an independent studio building focused, private, native apps for iPhone and iPad.

Most apps want your attention, your data and a subscription. We would rather make something quiet that does its job and gets out of the way.

We design, build and support our apps ourselves, so each one gets care and a real person to answer your questions. Our first app, JustBeats, brings 29,000+ live radio stations to your iPhone with no account, no ads and no tracking. More are in the lab.

What we believe

Four promises behind every app.

01

Privacy is a feature

We collect as little as possible. Every app ships with its own plain-language privacy policy, and data stays on your device by default.

02

Fewer, better things

Each app does one job and does it properly: no clutter, no upsell pop-ups, no dark patterns.

03

Native and accessible

We use the platform the way it was meant to be used: Siri, Shortcuts, widgets, Dynamic Type, light and dark modes.

04

Respect for rights

We credit sources, honour takedown requests and never claim rights we do not hold.

How we work

From a small itch to a finished app.

  1. NoticeWe start with a small, everyday annoyance worth fixing.
  2. ShapeStrip it down to the one thing the app must do beautifully.
  3. BuildNative Swift and SwiftUI, tested on real devices.
  4. ShipA clear listing and a privacy policy that matches reality.
  5. SupportReal replies from the people who made it.
How we build

Engineering principles.

  • Native first. Swift and SwiftUI, system components, system fonts, and the platform’s own accessibility features.
  • Few dependencies. JustBeats ships with no third-party SDKs, so there is nothing hidden collecting data.
  • Fail gracefully. Streams drop and networks wobble; apps should retry, fall back and explain.
  • Honest privacy. Policies are written from the code, listing every network connection the app makes.
